Session2: Mind map of 3 learning theories

This is our mind map of  three learning theories: Behaviorism, Cognitivism, Constructivism using Mindmeister
It includes the following information :
 1) definition of each theory;
2) examples of how such theories were applied in teaching and learning practice;
3)the influences of applying them in practice;
4) a reflection on how this mind map activity helped to build up your knowledge on learning theories.

  1. I think the mindmap has covered a complete range of knowledge,however,I personally think you used "equal" to define every concept is not really objetive as "learning=blablabla" means the left part is entirely same as the right content.

    1. Oh yeah!That's really a problem.
      You know we actually means that the left words can be presented by the right parts but they are not totally equal.So, the "=" may cause misunderstanding.
      Thank you a lot for your suggestion!

  2. I think your mind map was established by many keywords making it easy for me to understand the main content.

  3. I think your group's mind-map is quite clear and informative. With the use of emoji (the smiley face and the frowny face) in classifying the influences , I can easily understand whether it is a good/bad influence. This is a nice little detail I like! Also, the examples given in your mind-map are also quite useful, but there is a spelling mistake in one of the examples of Behaviourism - 'repentance' should be repetition?

  4. Your mind-map is well-structured, in that it includes the basic information of the learning theories, i.e. their definitions, influences and examples. These information are clearly listed in the mind map so that reviewer could understand the learning theories quickly.

    I particularly like the idea of putting inter-linkage between the learning theories to compare and contrast the learning theories. By way of this, learners could definitely have a better understanding of the concepts of the theories.

  5. The type setting of the mind map is pretty well,which is clear to see all of the part.

  6. Your mind-map’s main objective is clearly achieved as sufficient details are provided to ensure basic understanding of the three learning theories. It is also well-organized; right-hand side -> the learning theories (definition, influences and examples) and left-hand side -> the reflections.

    Moreover, comprehension of the main idea of the learning theories is made easy with the use of symbols (=,->). For example, in the definition of Behaviourism ‘Learning = stimulation -> response -> reinforcement’, the equal sign and arrows are used to indicate the direction / steps involved to accomplish learning using the Behaviousist approach.

  9. Your mind-map is well-structured and have a good layout. On the left hand side, emoji was used to represent your group members point of view. On the right hand side, 3 learning theories each with 3 subtitles: definition, influences, examples with details are easy to follow. I was signaled by the color used for the definition. I also like the relationship between learning theories shown in red and green box.

  10. I really appreciate your application of the arrow to compare the differences between those theories. Basically I agree with your thinking of “Behaviourism”… “shift from external behaviour to internal understanding”…”Cognitivism”. Behaviourism wants learner to change the behaviour through learning just based on the action and reaction with the object and the influence of environment (Elliott et al. 2000).

  11. Your mind map was very informative. However, I feel that from cognitivism to constructivism it is not necessarily a shift from teaching to learning. In both circumstances, students are still learning. I think what changes is the role of the teacher. For cognitivism, the teacher organizes the information to be taught in chunks, so that students can easily assimilate and accommodate the new information. The teachers are responsible for the input provided. It does not necessarily take into consideration of what the students already know. In comparison, for constructivism, the teachers are facilitators helping students construct meaning from what they know and what is being taught. They help build new meaning with students.

  12. Firstly, the mind map is very clear and the font is cute. Secondly, the content of every concept is short and concise rather than long and repeated, which helped readers understand the meaning quicker.

  13. The mind-map is very clear. It is easy for readers to understand the basic concepts of behaviorism, cognitivism, and constructivism. I appreciate the special red and green lines which link the connections among the three learning theories that indicated the relevance as well.

  14. The mind map show more detail of concepts, especially the examples of the case. The content was powerful to learners understand content. Overall, the mind map was easy to understand.
