  • Is the course structure organized in a logical and learner-friendly way?
  • Can learners achieve their goals or objectives after finishing the course?

Pedagogical Benefits:

This course satisfies most of the levels in the Bloom's Taxonomy.

  • Evaluate
Ths course seems not containing any evaluation.
CreateLearners can follow their step by step guides to create some basic websites or mini-games with their own thoughts and ideas and the end of the course.

Reflections:

Based on my own experience, this course is suitable for anyone who would like to learn about programming from scratch. The course is well-organized and well-structured which allows learners with zero programming knowledge to learn it bite by bite. Besides, the post-lesson quiz provides learners opportunities to apply what they have just learnt in the last 10 mins, and the instant-feedback provided in the quizzes are helpful too. Finally, even though you have some specific questions that you cannot solve by yourself, you can either rewatch the tutorial videos or ask in the built-in community of Treehouse. Typically, staffs or other learners will answer your questions within 30 mins. And I highly recommend you to help answering others questions in the community as well in order to get the most out of it!

Pedagogical benefits of this e-Learning course:

  • The course is Synchronous learning, allowing students and teachers to collaborate and interact in real time.
  • The learning objectives content of this course include apply, analyze, evaluate and create levels in the Bloom's Taxonomy rather than only remember the principle.
  • The practice parts in the course can effectively enhance learning outcomes
  • Learners can get an macroscopic and measurable improve after the course.
  • The novel  living-course platform in Zhihu greatly engage learners

Reflections about this course:

The most significant advantage of this course is synchronousness, which makes the course effective in interaction between teachers and learners. As the beginner of paid learning, which is a new wave of e-learning reform, Zhihu Live offer a solid platform for these “teachers” who possess knowledge and experience and “learners” who are willing to pay some money for learning. Although charging sometimes is seen as a disadvantage of this kind of courses, I think it is a good way to improve the recognition of learners to avoid the ineffective online learning such as these unpopular course in Mood platform
. And since it is only little charging on the average of learners, “live” is a good way to purchase knowledge.

If you have never tried synchronous live course, I strongly recommend you this course.

  1. Your assignment follows a very good format! It looks neat and clear. And you analyzed in a logical way. But if you can add some images, that will be better.

  2. I found from Fan's reflection that Zhihu live is offering a solid platform for these “teachers” who possess knowledge and experience and “learners” who are willing to pay some money for learning. So, I think Zhihu live is a good platform in mainland China to study online during some pieces of time.

  3. Fan's example is about a Synchronous learning(allowing students and teachers to collaborate and interact in real time),it is very rare as most groups choose recorded e-learning courses.

  4. The four online courses are all very impressive and the analysis all make sense. And it's amazing to see that Learn Python meet all levels of Bloom's Taxonomy as it not only allows learners to remember knowledge with doing quiz but also move forward to step into more deeper level of learning. But just as Lucy said at class, the description learning objectives can be more concrete and professional by using more detailed words. Thanks for sharing! :)

  5. I was impressed that your group’s selected course ‘Learn Python’ meets most levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy. Well, I noticed in your analysis of Bloom’s Taxonomy that the level ‘Create’ is not in the same format as the rest of the levels of objectives mentioned since it is not boldfaced and bulleted. This can result in perplexity if one is skimming through your reflection as he/she may think ‘Create’ rather than ‘Evaluate’ is missing.

I particularly like that your group has selected the Python course which satisfies most of the levels in the Bloom's Taxonomy. The explanation on this group choice is also very detailed and informative, listing out the levels on the Bloom's Taxonomy and how the Python course meets the listed levels. Great work!

  13. I appreciate that Ronald select the course “Learn Python” and analyze it by the Bloom’s Taxonomy. It helps me to easily figure out the design principle of this course and it reaches to the listed level.

  14. I agree with the Arti’s comment about the structure of Bloom’s Taxonomy. Ronald took only 5 steps to analyse the course objectives. I think the whole contents of the part “Evaluate” can be changed to “Create”, because it really is to talk about the learner’s creation of a websites or mini-games. In doing so, the “evaluate” part may judge or appraise the leaner’s design of the website and the game to follow correctly the design steps learned from the course.
